In November 2022, the Law Commission for England and Wales announced a review of the law on decentralised autonomous organisations (DAO).

The intermediate outcome will be a scoping paper that examines the description and legal status of DAOs, whose collective organisational structure that often, but not necessarily,  uses blockchain, smart contracts and similar technology.

This event, organised by DeCaDe in conjunction with Creative Informatics and Edinburgh Law School, will introduce the consultation document and the latest thinking of the Law Commission.

Changes in the legal status of DAOs could profoundly affect every business in the decentralised economy - so what does the future hold?

We will also invite feedback and suggestions for responses from all participants who would like their views communicated, but don't plan to have an individual response.
