The Edinburgh Centre for Private Law presents a conference on
Moveable Transactions Reform
This event will run from 14:00 on 20 April 2023 to 16:00 on 21 April 2023
The Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Bill is currently before the Scottish Parliament and is expected to become law later this year.
Moveable transactions laws are of significant economic importance. They enable access to finance, by the selling of claims such as invoices and the granting of security over assets such as equipment, vehicles and intellectual property. Current Scottish law here is outdated and inadequate.
This conference will consider the reforms being made in five sessions:
- The need for reform.
- Assignation.
- Security: general including insolvency aspects.
- Security and new asset types.
- What next?
The speakers are:
