The Law, Borders and Migration Reading Group and the Global Justice Academy present the Roundtable on Migration and Discrimination organised for 22 March from 9 am to 5 pm at the UoE Law School. This session offers a unique opportunity for PhD students and ECRs to showcase their ongoing work, exchange ideas, and receive feedback from peers and established scholars in the field. We are pleased to announce keynote addresses delivered by Prof Marie-Bénédicte Dembour and Prof Elspeth Guild (online).
The call for abstracts for this event is open until 29 February. Submissions from diverse perspectives and approaches are encouraged. The organisers welcome abstracts that engage with legal aspects of migration and discrimination, including but not limited to:
- Legal frameworks governing migration, asylum, and refugee protection
- Human rights implications of migration policies and practices
- Legal barriers and challenges faced by migrants in accessing justice and basic rights
- Discriminatory practices within immigration and asylum systems
- Intersectionality and the compounding effects of discrimination on migrant populations
- The role of international law and institutions in addressing migration-related discrimination
- Comparative analyses of legal approaches to migration and discrimination across jurisdictions
- Strategies for advancing legal protections and combating discrimination against migrants
Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.
