About The History of European Law: Constitutional Practice, 1950 to 1993
Up to now, ‘histories’ of European Union law and its legally focused institutions has been primarily descriptive in approach, whilst making very little use of archive resources. To put it another way, the historiographical credentials of EU legal history have often been weak. This book begins to fill that lacuna, with a series of interlinked chapters on the intense struggles over the emergence of constitutional practices, seen from a variety of institutional optics, and making use of a wide range of sources.
Further details of the book can be found here [External Link]
The event will comprise an introduction to the book from one of the editors, Morten Rasmussen of Copenhagen University, followed by comments from University of Edinburgh academic community members, and Q&A.
There will be refreshments in Teaching Room 04 Old College before the event, offering an informal opportunity to meet our visitor and to network with each other.
