You are invited to attend a roundtable on Global Constitutionalism and Enlightenment Ideas at Edinburgh Law School
Drawing inspiration from a journal editorial published in early 2026, which looks at shifts within intellectual histories and studies of ‘Enlightenment' in recent years, this academic event will seek to ‘locate’ Global Constitutionalism as both journal and as constellation of ideas in its Edinburgh and Scottish context. The roundtable event celebrates the hosting of the Cambridge University Press journal Global Constitutionalism at the University of Edinburgh since 2025, in a partnership between the School of Social and Political Science and the School of Law and marks the fifteenth year of publication for this groundbreaking interdisciplinary and international journal.
Host: Jo Shaw, Salvesen Chair of European Institutions, Head of Edinburgh Law School (Global Constitutionalism Editor since 2020).
Moderator: Neil Walker, Regius Professor of the Law of Nature and Nations and Public Law, Edinburgh Law School (Global Constitutionalism advisory board)
Panel members:
Sinja Graf, Assistant Professor, Department of International Relations, London School of Economics
Jared Holley, Lecturer in Political Theory, Politics and International Relations, University of Edinburgh (Global Constitutionalism Editor since 2025)
Emma Hunter, Professor of Global and African History, Head of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, University of Edinburgh
Anthony F Lang, Jr, Professor of International Political Theory, School of International Relations, University of St Andrews (Past Editor of Global Constitutionalism)
