Governor Eduardo Leite
Eduardo Leite is the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, elected with 3,128,317 votes representing 53.62% of the valid votes in the 2018 election. He was born in Pelotas, on March 10th, 1985.He has a mandate until 2022. He arrived at the Palacio Piratini, seat of the State Government, at the age of 33. He is the youngest governor in Brazil. Leite started his career in politics very early. He was mayor of the municipality of Pelotas from 2013 to 2016. Before that, he was municipal secretary, councilor and president of the municipal council.
Eduardo Leite was chosen by the American magazine Americas Quarterly as one of the five most promising politicians in Latin America, under the age of 40. He studied public policies at Columbia University in New York, USA, and was attending a master's degree in public management at Fundação Getulio Vargas when he was elected governor.
