M. Guadalupe Martínez, Assistant Professor IE Law School
About the speaker
María Guadalupe Martínez Alles is Assistant Professor of Law at IE University. She works in the areas of private law, tort theory and comparative private law. She teaches Torts and Contracts. Her scholarship draws on insights from modern cognitive and social psychology and employs an economic and comparative perspective to explore problems in tort law, consumer law, and punitive damages. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Tort Law, Journal of European Tort Law, Latin American Legal Studies, and Revista Argentina de Responsabilidad Civil y Seguros.
Martínez Alles graduated, summa cum laude, from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, and holds an LL.M. degree from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba as well as an LL.M. and J.S.D. degrees from Yale Law School.
Martínez Alles was previously Professor of Law at Universidad de San Andrés. She has held visiting academic positions at Yale Law School, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, and the University of Oxford. Prior to joining academia, she worked as a Law Clerk for a District Court Judge in Córdoba, as a Legal Advisor at the Córdoba Agency for Investment and Development Projects, and as a Legal Advisor at the Washington D.C. office of the Inter-American Development Bank.
