The role of the board of directors in enhancing sustainable value creation: a Dutch perspective
Prof Mieke Olearts is the Professor of Comparative and National Company Law at Maastricht University, and a MacCormick Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. She is a member of the editorial board of Ondernemingsrecht and European Company Law. She is of Counsel at a law firm DVDW and appointed together with Rob Bauer to the Elverding Chair on Sustainable Business, Culture and Corporate Regulation. She is also a member of the board of the Ius Commune Research school.
Mieke will outline her research on the role of the board in relation to sustainability in Dutch listed companies. She will explore whether directors duties should be changed to enhance sustainable corporate decision making.
