About the event
The monetisation of children’s digital personae through parent-operated platform accounts raises acute questions at the intersection of data protection, economic exploitation and children’s rights. This talk explores the normative implications of commercialised sharenting for the child’s right to development. Drawing on the UNCRC and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, it asks whether existing EU legal frameworks can respond to the risks posed by this practice.
