Call for Research Presentations; Edinburgh Commercial Law PGR Reading Group (CLRG)

The Edinburgh Commercial Law PGR Reading Group (CLRG) is a research community founded and run by doctoral researchers at Edinburgh University Law School.

CLRG organises and hosts research presentations by group members, academic staff, visiting scholars and guest speakers working in the broad field of commercial law. It provides a supportive and informal environment for postgraduate researchers to develop their research and presentation skills, share ideas and experiences, receive constructive feedback, and engage with other researchers and practitioners. The group also provides opportunities to build academic and professional networks and broaden knowledge of current developments in commercial law.

Scope of Presentations

CLRG welcomes research presentations from scholars and practitioners working in any area of commercial law, including:

• completed or recently published research;
• work in progress, including early-stage research;
• PhD research project;
• emerging research ideas, projects or methodologies; and
• issues arising from practice that may be of interest to the wider commercial law research community.

We are particularly keen to encourage postgraduate and early-career researchers to present their work. CLRG has successfully organised and delivered PhD work-in-progress sessions for PGR students from Edinburgh Law School and other universities, and we welcome presentations from researchers at different stages of their careers.

Presentations may take different forms depending on the presenter and stage of research, including PhD work-in-progress, a thesis chapter or section, a paper in development, a conference paper, or an emerging research question. Presenters can expect an engaged and supportive audience and an opportunity for constructive discussion and feedback.

Format

Most CLRG sessions are hybrid. While we encourage and prefer in-person presentations and participation, we can also arrange online presentations where necessary or more convenient for the speaker and participants.

Researchers, including PhD students, from Edinburgh Law School and other institutions are very welcome to get in touch if they would like to present at a future CLRG session.
