The Edinburgh Centre for International and Global Law welcomes Prof Jean D'Aspremont, Professor of International Law, Sciences Po School of Law and Chair in Public International Law, University of Manchester. Prof D'Aspremont will be disucssing his latest book: After Meaning - The Sovereignty of Forms in International Law (Publishers website)
About the speaker
Jean d’Aspremont is Professor of International Law at Sciences Po School of Law. He also holds a chair of Public International Law at the University of Manchester where he founded the Manchester International Law Centre (MILC). He is General Editor of the Cambridge Studies in International and Comparative Law and Director of Oxford International Organizations (OXIO). He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Journal of International Law and series editor of the Melland Schill Studies in International Law.
Before joining Sciences Po Law School, he was Professor of International Legal Theory at the University of Amsterdam. He used to be Editor-in-Chief of the Leiden Journal of International Law. He received his LL.M. from the University of Cambridge and his Ph.D. from the University of Louvain. He was a Global Research Fellow at New York University. He acted as counsel in proceedings before the International Court of Justice.
