The forthcoming De Gruyter Handbook of Blockchain and Society offers a thorough exploration of how blockchain technology intersects with various aspects of modern life. Comprising 47 chapters representing 13 academic disciplines and 21 countries, the topics in the book range from regulation, governance, and theory to culture, DAOs, law, and emerging use cases. The handbook examines the nuanced impacts of blockchain on fields such as medicine, finance, art, and voting, while also addressing broader social, ethical, and political questions. It serves as a comprehensive reference for understanding blockchain’s evolving role in society.

The two editors of the book, Professor John Flood (Professor of Law and Society, Griffith University) and Dr. Lachlan Robb (Lecturer, QUT School of Law) will provide an overview of the book, followed by brief presentations on chapters contributed by Dr. Morshed Mannan (Lecturer in Global Law and Digital Technology, Edinburgh Law School) and Dr. Frances Liddell (DECaDE and IASH, University of Edinburgh). This will be followed by responses from participants and an open discussion with the audience.
