About this event
How far have authoritarian discourses and practices reshaped the penal field in Latin America in recent times? Drawing on illustrations from the prisons of an Argentine province, I explore both the persistence of authoritarian control practices and struggles to mitigate them. How has this complex field been impacted by the new wave of ‘authoritarian populism’ in some Latin American settings? How then should we address questions of both continuity and change in these contexts?
