Hazel Cameron, Edinburgh Law School alumna and career lawyer for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), will be visiting Old College to speak to students of international law (across all fields) about careers with the FCDO and reflecting on her own 25 year career path, from traineeships to Head of the Human Rights Office.
About the speaker
Hazel (LLB, 1996) is Head of the Human Rights Department at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Prior to that she established the Europe Strategy and Expertise Department in the FCDO (2020-2022) and led the Justice and Home Affairs team of the UK Permanent Representation to the EU (2016-2020). She is a Scottish qualified solicitor and has worked as an FCDO Legal Adviser, as the UK “Antici” co-ordinating Prime Ministerial engagement in the EU, and on secondment in the EU External Action Service.
