As the global economy shifts towards the increased use of autonomous systems, traditional legal frameworks are being challenged. We are entering an era where AI agents engage in complex contractual agreements, which necessitate new oversight mechanisms.
These two talks, by Dr. Federico Ast and Dr. William George from Kleros, explores the emergence of Kleros, a pioneer in the nascent field of 'Decentralised Justice', at the intersection of Computer Science, Law, and Economics. Kleros is famous for having introduced a radical innovation to the legal world by proposing a jury system rooted in crowdsourcing, collective intelligence, and the alignment of economic incentives.
In a modern nod to the Scottish Enlightenment, Kleros applies an "Invisible Hand" approach to justice: through the use of the Schelling Point as a coordination game, the self-interest of individual jurors is harnessed to produce a collective pursuit of truth - without the need for a central authority.
Beyond the technical details, the speakers will examine Kleros as a landmark case of open-source civic innovation and its evolution into a global phenomenon.
The session will demonstrate how Kleros provides a scalable, low-cost layer of trust for e-commerce, finance, content moderation, and the metaverse. They will specifically address how decentralised arbitration can serve as the "Supreme Court" for AI-to-AI disputes, ensuring fairness in a world of automated governance.
Whether you are interested in the future of smart contract enforcement, the ethics of algorithmic justice, or the frontiers of technological innovation, this session provides a roadmap for the legal infrastructure of the 21st century.
After the two talks, Dr. Morshed Mannan will provide a brief response and then open the floor to questions and comments from the audience.
Everyone is welcome to attend!
