Edinburgh Commercial Law Reading Group presents
The Agency Costs of Sustainable Capitalism
The Conveners of the Edinburgh Commercial Law Reading Group at the University of Edinburgh are delighted to invite you to our new online event. The session will focus on the ‘Agency Costs of Sustainable Capitalism’, specifically referring to two recent articles:
1. Christie, A., The Agency Costs of Sustainable Capitalism (January 13, 2021). UC Davis Law Review, Vol. 55, No. 2, 2021, Forthcoming, University of Cambridge Faculty of Law Research Paper No. 7/2021, Available at SSRN
2. Gilson, R. J., & Gordon, J. N. (2013). The Agency Costs of Agency Capitalism: Activist Investors and The Revaluation of Governance Rights. Columbia Law Review, 863-927.
The session will be led by Anna Christie, who will present her recent paper about the role of asset managers, activist hedge funds, and other responsible activists in pursuing sustainability goals. The session will then be opened up to participants to contribute to a discussion of the articles.
Given the current Covid-19 guidelines, this event will be held online. The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Relevant readings and the link to the event will be sent to those registered in advance of the meeting. Please register through the Eventbrite link below.
