REF 2014 confirms Edinburgh Law School’s excellence in research

Edinburgh Law School has been ranked 1st in Scotland and 4th in the UK for the breadth and quality of its research, based on the REF 2014 results released on 18 December.

The Law School had one of the largest law research submissions in the UK.

More than three quarters (77%) of all our research activity is rated as world leading, internationally excellent or better. This represents a comprehensive picture of the School’s thriving and dynamic research community.

High impact

The REF 2014 also places us 1st in the UK for the highest volume of 4* rated research impact.

The Law School submitted six impact case studies, five of which were rated 4*. This was one of the largest submissions for law research in the UK, which means that we produce the highest volume of research impact that is considered world-leading in terms of significance and rigour.
