Dr Vicky Gorton is a research fellow on the ‘Policing the Pandemic’ project looking at the role of police enforcement in Scotland during the COVID-19 pandemic. Having worked for the Scottish Government through the pandemic, she has an extensive understanding of COVID-19 policy and its impact on crime statistics.

Prior to the pandemic, much of Vicky’s research focused on the learning-teaching of quantitative methods in the social sciences. This included work on statistics anxiety and public engagement with statistics. She has broad research interests in the sociology of knowledge and the role of data (in all its forms) in decision making and epistemology.
