A blog post featured on the UK Labour Law blog, authored by Edinburgh Law School’s Professor David Cabrelli along with research assistant Jessica D’alton, has been featured in the House of Commons Library Briefing Paper 8880.
Professor Cabrelli’s work on legal matters relating to Covid-19 was referred to three times in the House of Commons Library Briefing Paper. These briefing papers are distributed to all MPs to assist them in their work of holding the Government to account.
The blog post considers the effect of the UK Government’s furlough scheme on the common law rights of employees and workers, examining the Treasury Direction and the applicability of common law implied terms in the context of furlough.
The research for the blog post was very generously funded by a grant from the Law School and CAHSS. Thanks go to Professor Alexandra Braun, Director of Research and Shauna Thompson, Head of Research, KE and Impact Office, for drawing David’s attention to these funding schemes.
