Dr Deval Desai joins Working Group on Customary and Informal Justice and SDG16+

Tue 7 December 2021

Deval Desai

Dr Deval Desai has been invited to join the newly established global Working Group on Customary and Informal Justice (CIJ) and SDG16+, which aims to build more coherent and inclusive justice systems.

Facilitated by the global affairs think tank, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), the Working Group on CIJ and SDG16+ (WP CIJ) is a global alliance that draws together over 60 organisations in the justice sector to accelerate action on achieving access to justice for all, and build consensus about what it will take to the close the SDG16+ implementation gap in the lead-up to the second SDG Summit in 2023.

The working group’s goal is to create an enabling policy environment, at national and global levels, for governments, development partners, and civil society to engage effectively with CIJ in efforts to build more coherent and inclusive justice systems.

The Working Group held an inaugural roundtable on 18 November 2021, in which Dr Desai chaired a session on future research directions.
