Chancellor's Fellows

The School of Law seeks to appoint two Chancellor’s Fellows starting in August 2012 on a five year fixed term contract. These prestigious awards are aimed at early career individuals of the highest potential who have begun to establish a reputation for research excellence at the forefront of their discipline and who have a commitment to learning and teaching at university level.

It is essential that the successful candidate’s research furthers the high international reputation of the School and that she or he has a strong commitment to research led teaching and high quality student experience. We welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate evidence of independent research at the forefront of their chosen field which may be in Law, Socio-Legal Studies or Criminology.

We anticipate that the appointments will be made at the grade 07 level and that the successful candidates will have recently completed their PhD or be very close to final submission. Teaching and administration will gradually increase over the 5 year period to that of a normal academic load in the School of Law and substantial mentoring and development support will be available through and beyond their Fellowship provided by the School and by the Institute for Academic Development. A sufficient amount of teaching and administration will be required in the first 3 years to allow a judgement to be made on continuation to a full, open ended academic position.

We welcome enquiries from potential applicants. Please email Law@ed.ac.uk for further information.
