Robert Forster is a Research Analyst with the Political Settlements Research Programme at the Edinburgh Law School. He graduated from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, with first class honours in IR in 2012 and attained an M.Sc. in International Relations of the Middle East with Arabic at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with distinction in 2014.
Before his position with Edinburgh Law School, he was editor and deputy office manager at a research center in Cairo, Egypt. Other tasks and projects were also conducted for IHS Country Risk, Consultancy Africa Intelligence, Peace Direct and Reprieve UK.
Research interests include state-society relations, non-state actors, pastoral conflicts, sectarianism, Islamism and armed political movements in MENA and East Africa.
