There are many ways students, graduates, solicitors, legal firms and organisations that employ solicitors can support Edinburgh Law School in its outreach and widening participation work.

AS AN LLB/DLP STUDENT:
  • Volunteer to help run workshops for local state school pupils.  We work with some local Primaries (primary 7) and all 46 local secondary schools.

  • Speak at one of our career exploration events.
  • Get involved with Innovative Learning Week (February) and gain skills for your cv as well as help school pupils find out more about studying law.

AS A GRADUATE, TRAINEE, SOLICITOR, ADVOCATE ETC:
  • Come and speak at one of our events for local state school pupils interested in studying law.
  • Consider hosting a pair of local state school pupils for a day - or more - of work experience.  These tend to run in the February and October school holidays and the next one running is the week of 14 - 18 October 2013.
  • Ask your firm/employer to support our Solicitor Links for Undergraduate Guidance (SLUG) programme by hosting a second year Edinburgh LLB student for an afternoon a week over a six week period.  More information - and registration - here.
  • Become involved in our Careers sessions aimed at current Edinburgh LLB students.  These events vary and can be anything from a specific area of law to chatting about your role and how you came to be in it.

  • Become involved in our Careers sessions aimed at current Edinburgh LLB students.  This can be a bespoke event about your organisation and what different career paths are possible or it could be an account of your journey into the role you currently have.  There is a lot of flexibility in terms of what we can offer the students so we are always delighted to hear from anyone interested in speaking to them.
