Professor Lesley McAra begins role as new Head of School

Professor Lesley McAra has now begun her new role as Head of School at Edinburgh Law School.  At the end of April 2011 the school bade farewell to Professor Douglas Brodie, former Head of School, who left to assume the role of Head of the School of Arts and Humanities at Stirling University.

Professor Lesley McAra has now begun her new role as Head of School at Edinburgh Law School.  At the end of April 2011 the school bade farewell to Professor Douglas Brodie, former Head of School, who left to assume the role of Head of the School of Arts and Humanities at Stirling University.

Professor McAra also recently announced the appointment of Professor Kenneth Reid as the new Deputy Head of School, taking over the role from Professor Graeme Laurie.

In 2009 Edinburgh Law School celebrated the 100 year anniversary of its first female graduation in law.  The appointment of Professor McAra, the first female Head of School, is therefore a particularly momentous occasion in the history of both the school and of women in the legal profession.
