Professor Lesley McAra announced as next Head of School

Lesley McAra, Professor of Penology, has been announced as the next Head of School at Edinburgh Law School. Professor McAra takes over from Professor Douglas Brodie, who leaves to take up the position of Head of Arts and Humanities at Stirling University.  Professor McAra will assume the post on 1st May 2011. 

Lesley McAra, Professor of Penology, has been announced as the next Head of School at Edinburgh Law School. Professor McAra takes over from Professor Douglas Brodie, who leaves to take up the position of Head of Arts and Humanities at Stirling University.  Professor McAra will assume the post on 1st May 2011. 

Professor McAra's research interests lie in the general areas of the sociology of punishment and the sociology of law and deviance.  She is Co-Director of the Edinburgh Study of Youth Transitions and Crime, as well as being a member of both the Centre for Law and Society and the Europa Institute. She is also the Convenor of the Empirical Legal Research Network, a cross-University initiative aimed at facilitating partnership-working across different disciplines.
