Attendees from around the world come to Edinburgh Law School for famed pre-moot
The Edinburgh University Willem Vis International Commercial Arbitration Pre-Moot was held for the 6th time on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th March 2017. The Pre-Moot is a competition that combines procedural issues of international commercial arbitration with substantive law on the international sales of goods based on the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods 1980.
The Edinburgh Pre-Moot is an important step in our students' preparation at the moot in Vienna. It enabled 15 teams from countries including China, Germany, Japan and Turkey to practice together with our Scottish teams. More than 45 arbitrators gave their time to support the students in their preparations and to give them constructive feedback.
The event was very well received, with one participant commenting: “Great experience! Great teams! Great arbitrators! Great University! A must do before Vienna!” Alysée Nay (Aix-Marseille University).
The event was organised by Snjólaug Árnadóttir and Dr. Simone Lamont-Black and was sponsored by CMS Cameron McKenna LLP, the Scottish Arbitration Centre and Edinburgh Law School.
