Edinburgh Law School academic awarded Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to social sciences
Susan McVie, Professor of Quantitative Criminology within Edinburgh Law School, has been recognised in the New Year’s Honours. She will receive a prestigious OBE for her services to social sciences.
Professor McVie is the Director of the Applied Quantitative Methods Network (AQMeN) in Scotland, a collaborative network of social scientists which provides advanced training in quantitative techniques and promotes knowledge exchange. She is also co-Director of the Edinburgh Study of Youth Transitions and Crime, a prospective longitudinal study of youth offending based at the University of Edinburgh since 1998.
Professor McVie is one of three University of Edinburgh academics who have had honours conferred upon them this year. We would like to offer her our warmest congratulations for this well-deserved acknowledgement of her work.
