Professor McAra appointed Assistant Principal

Professor Lesley McAra, Chair of Penology, has been made Assistant Principal Community Relations.

Her areas of responsibility in this new role are to provide academic leadership in the field of social responsibility and to co-ordinate and further develop opportunities for community engagement and experiential learning.

Professor McAra said: " Edinburgh University is a great civic institution. The ethos of our scholarly community is to undertake research and teaching with, in, and for the City, the Nation and the wider world. I am deeply honoured to be taking on this role and look forward to working with staff and students in my new capacity."

Assistant Principals are responsible for progressing the University's strategic objectives and developing University policy in specific areas. They are designated by the University Court on the recommendation of the Principal.
