Law School lecturer on Foreign Office tour of Taiwan

Navraj Singh Ghaleigh, Senior Lecturer in Climate Law, has led a delegation of diplomats and legal scholars on a ‘Climate Outreach Roadshow' of Taiwan’s major cities.

The three-day tour, held in January, was sponsored by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and visited Taiwan’s three major cities: Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Taichung.

As well as public lectures at the National Taiwan University and National Chung Hsing University, the tour involved meetings with academics, central and regional government officials (including from the Environmental Protection Agency), and several prominent NGOs.

Despite being a major regional economy, Taiwan’s climate policy is rather understudied and the visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the sharing of experiences and legal techniques.

“I would like to thank the British Trade and Cultural Office, Dr Jeffrey Chen (ex-Edinburgh Law School Visitor) and Dr Anton Gao from Tsing Hua University for their kind assistance,” said Mr Singh Ghaleigh.
