Professors Lesley McAra and Susan McVie recognised for impact excellence at gala dinner
Professors Lesley McAra and Susan McVie were honoured by the University at a gala dinner. The Vice-Chancellor and Lord Provost of Edinburgh hosted this dinner and presented the Edinburgh Law School Academics with their awards.
Lesley and Susan became the first recipients of the Chancellor's Award for Impact, a new category this year. The category is designed to honour colleagues whose outstanding research has made significant and demonstrable contributions to society, beyond academic recognition.
This honour was conferred upon them in recognition of their work on the Edinburgh Study of Youth Transitions and Crime, which has had a pronounced impact on policy and practice. Their research has directly benefited the experiences of young people in Scotland.
Lesley is the Assistant Principal for Community Relations and holds the Chair of Penology. Susan is Chair of Quantitative Criminology. Congratulations to both for this well-deserved honour.
