Gerard Porter presents at U.S. Health Law Professors Conference

Lecturer in Medical Law and Ethics spoke on June 10 in Atlanta

On June 10, Gerard Porter (Lecturer in Medical Law and Ethics) delivered a presentation entitled: “Drug Regulatory Agencies: Guardians of the Ethics of International Clinical Trials?” at the 40th Annual Health Law Professors Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. The conference was organised by the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics.

In his presentation, Gerard argued that drug regulatory agencies - such as the U.S. FDA - can and should play a more active role in encouraging ethics compliance in international clinical trials in developing countries. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
