Edinburgh law graduates secure Westminster seats

A number of Edinburgh Law School graduates have been elected MPs at Westminster following the UK’s general election.

David Mundell, who held on to his Dumfrieshire, Clydedale and Tweeddale seat as a representative of the Conservative party, has been appointed Secretary of State for Scotland.

Mr Mundell studied law at Edinburgh and gained his Diploma in Legal Practice here.

Recently appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Ian Murray studied MA Social Policy and Law at Edinburgh.

He has been re-elected the Labour MP for Edinburgh South.

Newly elected SNP MPs Joanna Cherry QC and Stuart McDonald also studied at Edinburgh Law School.
