Edinburgh Law School Honorary Graduate, Lady Justice Julia Sebutinde, has been nominated for election to the International Court of Justice. Julia was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Laws in 2009 in recognition of her work in human rights in Uganda and internationally, and her fight against corruption. She also graduated with an LLM (Distinction) from the University of Edinburgh in 1991.

Currently Julia is presiding judge of Trial Chamber II at the Special Court for Sierra Leone. Elections to the International Court of Justice will take place on 10 November 2011.
