More on 'Life Beyond Law'...........

...........the event last night (7th Oct) in the Law School where law grads talked - with great enthusiasm - about their non-legal careers. With passion for their current area of work, whether it was consulting, policy work, legal editing, property management, estate agency.....and more - the speakers talked us through their work, the relevance  - or otherwise - of their law degree to their work, and spelt out great messages about the need to find your own path - not the path chosen for you by your school, your parents, your peers - and get out there and find opportunities - by a) networking - (subject of previous blog),  - b) being proactive, c) trying new things - and not waiting for the opportunity to come to you!

And everyone had a chance to put their networking skills into practice with the speakers after the talks - over wonderful trays of sandwiches and platters of fruit kindly provided by the Law Society of Scotland. (Unfortunately the red wine promised us by one of the speakers turned out to be a figment of his imagination - but it did mean we all left with a clear head). And I did hear a rumour that one of the delegates might have managed to network themselves into a job...............
