Welcome to the Home Page of the UK IVR Conference, to be held at the School of Law, Old College, South Bridge, University of Edinburgh, from Friday 30 May to Saturday 31 May 2008. The theme for the Conference is New Directions in Legal and Social Theory.
The UK IVR is a branch of the International Association for Legal and Social Philosophy (IVR). The Secretariat of the IVR is in Edinburgh, with Professor Sir Neil MacCormick as President, Professor Zenon Bankowski as Treasurer, and Dr. Claudio Michelon as Secretary General. The Conference will coincide with the IVR Executive Meeting, thus bringing together many prominent legal and social philosophers from around the world. The members of the executive of the UK IVR are: Professor Zenon Bankowski (as President), Burkhard Schafer (as Secretary) and Beverley Clucas (as Treasurer). The two keynote speakers for the Conference are Professor Les Green, University of Oxford, and Professor Cecile Fabre, University of Edinburgh. NB. Professor Green has taken ill and will not be attending the Conference. Professor Tom Campbell will be the second keynote speaker.
