University of Edinburgh Computing Regulations
|
Users (staff, students and other authorised users) of the Law School’s computing and network facilities are reminded that all usage must
comply with the University of Edinburgh’s Computing Regulations, which can be found online at the following address:
http://www.ucs.ed.ac.uk/EUCS/regs.html
Students and staff posting forum messages to any of the forums on this website are reminded that, while such messages will generally
identify the author of a posting only by that author’s self-assigned ‘nickname’, the Law School retains a record of the true identities of
the authors of all forum messages posted, in case the Law School is required to identify a forum message author for a particular reason.
Please note that all posts to forums on the Law School's website are publicly viewable on the internet. For this reason you are advised to choose a nickname other than your real name.
Please also note that you can change your nickname at any time, but only once every six months.
The Law School participates in ‘affiliate schemes’ with a number of online retailers—for example, online bookstores. We make a small rate
of commission on purchases from affiliate websites that originate from links on the Law School’s website, and all of the commission we
receive is donated to the Law School’s Tercentenary Appeal. The affiliate companies are able to identify that the purchases ‘originated’
from our website because links from our website to affiliate companies’ websites contain a short code identifying the Law School. Designated
staff within the Law School are notified of the specific products sold this way, and of the prices at which those products were sold, so
that we can check that the total commission we receive is correct. However, the Law School receives NO information from Amazon.co.uk as to the identity
or location of the purchasers of those products.
The Law School currently participates in the Affiliate schemes of the following retailers:
Amazon.co.uk
Blackwell Online (blackwell.co.uk)
Commission Junction (who act as the affiliate intermediary for abebooks.co.uk)
Additionally, the Law School has a commercial relationship with Avizandum bookshop, in which Avizandum pays a fixed annual
fee for the appearance of links from our Website to theirs. This is not a commission arrangement, and the Law School has no
record of individual purchases of books sold in this way.
