Edinburgh Global Administrative Law Symposium
Welcome

On Tuesday 16 June 2009, the University of Edinburgh International Law Discussion Group will host a one-day symposium that focuses on the emerging field of Global Administrative Law (GAL). The symposium is being run by PhD students for PhD students, and is sponsored by the Edinburgh Law School Postgraduate Research Committee and the Scottish Centre for International Law.

The symposium is intended to be an opportunity for PhD students to present short papers (20 minutes) relating to GAL, as well as to have an opportunity to listen and interact with other students and established researchers in the field. The symposium will begin with an introductory keynote address and discussion, following which there will be a number of PhD presentation panels. The symposium will conclude with a plenary session to reflect on the day. Dr Euan MacDonald (current Research Officer at the New York University Global Administrative Law project) is the confirmed keynote. Professor Janet McLean (University of Dundee), Professor Neil Walker (University of Edinburgh) and Professor Alan Miller (Chair, Scottish Human Rights Commission) are confirmed to lead the plenary session. There is no registration cost for participation in the symposium and lunch will be provided.

The deadline for abstract submissions has passed.  However, you may still register to attend this free event.  Registration forms are due 10 June 2009 and may be emailed to edinburghGAL09@gmail.com.
