The Edinburgh Study used a large, single-cohort longitudinal design that incorporates multiple methods of data collection. This research focused on a single group of young people who secondary school in Edinburgh in the autumn of 1998. This design was chosen over a multiple-cohort design as it was more efficient and would be less disruptive to schools, and may result in higher participation and response rates. |
