The Centre for Law and Society is an interdisciplinary research centre in the School of Law. It holds a distinctive place in the development of legal studies in the United Kingdom and internationally as a long-standing forum for exchange between scholars in philosophy of law, sociological and anthropological approaches to law, criminology and penology.

The 2009 CLS Annual Lecture will be given by Professor Antony Duff of the University of Stirling, entitled: 'Towards a Theory of Criminal Law?'  and will take place at 17.30 on 5 November in Lecture Theatre 175 in Old College. There will be a reception afterwards in the nearby Lorimer Room.
