Law and Medical Ethics Courses

Our next programme of courses will commence on 23rd January 2012

The programme covers all of the fundamental aspects of contemporary health care and law required to assist all areas of counsel; issues in staff and patient management; and assist successful patient contact. The outcomes of the programme address what you need to know to navigate the increasing complexities of medical and nursing practice and instructs you on how to stay well within the limits of law and ethics.

  • What is legally valid consent?
  • What standards of care does the law expect of your profession?
  • When is it lawful to withhold or withdraw medical treatment?
  • When is it permissible to breach patient confidentiality?
  • How have human rights changed the face of modern medicine?

Choose to do one, some, or all of the modules available. For example, if the subject area highlighted in a single module enables you to focus on an area germane to your current interests and career related requirements, you can register for only a single module. However, if your interest is to gain a wider overview of medical law and how it can be successfully combined with medical ethics in practical terms, then select seven, or more, modules in combination to build a comprehensive certificated course.
