Innovation and Entrepreneurship Course
Self-access course explaining how to translate ideas into commercial ventures that will benefit others and provide rewards back to you.
Have you got a great idea?
This new online course in 'Innovation & entrepreneurship' will help you think about protecting and exploiting your idea in the marketplace.
In the course, we look at:
- the basics of intellectual property law - the rules that protect idea and other intangibles
- different options for commercialisation
- how to organise your business and present your ideas.
- the resources you will need to take your idea forward
- help and support that is available to you.
Even if you have not yet got 'that idea', this course will develop your awareness of commercialisation issues and entrepreneurship:
The course is taken online on a 'self-access' basis, meaning that you can dip in whenever you like, and work through the materials at your own pace.
Module materials are rich and relevant. You will find many practical and reflective activities to develop your practical knowledge. You have the option of using these in a highly instrumental way to help develop your own business plan.
The course also contains a number of case studies illustrating and exploring the realities of businesses based on intellectual property. In 'expert Q&A' sections, experts with practical experience in entrepreneurship, innovation and intellectual property respond to a range of relevant questions.
Quizzes are built in, so that you can test your progress. You will also find a rich supply of links to resources to deepen your learning in particular areas, or take further practical steps towards realising your idea.
To take the course, all you need is a computer with internet access. You will have two months to complete the course, and at the end you will receive a certificate of completion and a CD of course materials for future reference.
