| Intellectual Property and Media Foresight Forum |
The first meeting of the IP and Media Foresight Forum took place in Edinburgh on 7 September 2007. The meeting brought together a small Working Group of intellectual property lawyers and others (from 11 different Institutions) with a strong research interest in the area of IP and the media to formulate a proposal to establish an Intellectual Property Foresight Forum (IPFF) to foster greater collaboration and exchanges among the UK and international IP and media communities, including the postgraduate communities.
It was agreed that the overarching purpose of the IPFF is to bring together intellectual property and media lawyers, postgraduates and others with related interests to discuss and collaborate on issues of importance in the development of intellectual property and media laws and policies.
The IPFF will serve as a means to:
- review and exchange information about current research, including postgraduate activity;
- identify future research needs and opportunities related to policy concerns in a systematic way, and
- determine research strategies, including collaborative funding bids, and to facilitate closer working between IP and media communities both in the UK and beyond
