CALL FOR POSTERS
One of the aims of the SCRIPTed is the promotion of young scholars. To this end, postgraduate students and early career researchers who are registered for the conference are invited to present posters on their work, thereby giving them a unique opportunity to showcase their research in a visual format and contribute to the generation of ideas and discussion.
Those interested in presenting a poster at the “Governance of New Technologies” conference should email editors.scripted@ed.ac.uk. Authors should identify the conference title in the subject line of the email and the fact that it is a poster abstract.
Abstracts should be attached to the email as a Word document. Abstracts should:
- identify the author’s name and institutional affiliation; and
- contain a 300 word outline/summary of the paper.
We are accepting abstracts from now until 15 November 2008. Early submission is recommended as places are limited.
Topic
Posters may be submitted on any topic related to the governance of new technologies. The poster could include an abstract of your thesis or research project, or some ideas or questions for future research.
Display
The posters will be displayed in the rear of the Playfair Library throughout the two days of the conference. We would encourage you to be available next to your poster after lunch on both days to field questions related to your research.
Format
Posters are to be no larger than A1 size and text is to be in English. It is not absolutely necessary to use images, but you may find this will enhance the visual appeal. A poster should not have too much text – it should be comfortably readable for a passer-by. (Note: You can find images via Google images or on a variety of websites which offer free
or inexpensive images; most of the images have conditions attached, so please read these carefully.) If you want to use a picture of identifiable people (e.g. fellow students or staff), you will need to obtain their consent.
Prize
A prize will be awarded for the best poster to be voted on by the participants.
